CAMDEN, Maine — HAV2, the business formerly known as Harbor Audio Video, will be closing June 1 after 33 years in business.

HAV2, which employs 5 people, will continue renting movies through April and will hold a going-out-of-business sale through the month of May.

“Times have changed so much since our humble beginnings on Main Street in 1983,” said Caroline Morong, who owns HAV2 with her husband, Wayne. “We’ve had 33 years of success with loyal and amazing employees and customers.”

“The fact is the world has moved past the storefront DVD rental business, and it’s time for us to say goodbye,” she said in a news release issued Thursday.

Over the years, HAV2 has sold at-home entertainment such as movies, music and television shows on five different formats: LaserDisc, VHS, Beta, DVD and Blu-Ray. The business also has sold and rented audio-video equipment.

Store hours at HAV2 until April 23 will be business as usual: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday. The store will then close for a week, reopening for the sale that starts 9 a.m. Saturday, April 30. Store hours after the weekend sale will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday until May 27.
