ELLSWORTH, Maine — A local woman who worked for Acadia Village Resorts is accused of stealing from the business.

Brandy C. Abbott, 33, of Ellsworth has been summoned on a felony Class C charge of theft, Ellsworth police Lt. Harold Page said in a prepared statement released Tuesday morning. The total amount of money Abbott is suspected of stealing is $8,067, according to Page.

Convictions on Class C crimes in Maine are punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

The money was taken over a series of individual thefts that occurred between Dec. 1, 2015 and March 31, 2016, Page said.

Abbott is due to appear on the charge in Hancock County Unified Criminal Court in Ellsworth on May 17.
