CAMDEN, Maine — A Colorado woman remained in jail Friday after being arrested the day before for entering a local hotel she had been ordered to leave.

Leith Lende, 61, of Durango, Colorado, originally was charged Thursday afternoon by Camden police with burglary and criminal trespass. The district attorney’s office, however, declined to file a burglary charge Friday and instead charged Lende with criminal mischief and theft of services.

Judge Susan Sparaco agreed to keep bail at $250 cash but required that the woman enter into a contract with Maine Pre-Trial Services before she could be released.

The affidavit filed by Camden police said that Lende had been staying at the Camden River House extended stay inn for the past four to six weeks but had agreed to leave after her credit cards were declined.

Lende did not return the key, however, and returned to one of the rooms Thursday.
