TOPSFIELD, Maine — A Lincoln man suffered head and elbow injuries when he fell asleep at the wheel and his car rolled over on Route 6 near East Musquash Lake on Tuesday, state police said.
Harry Soltow, 47, was headed east on Route 6, which is also known in that area as Old Codyville Road, when his 2005 Nissan sedan went off the road into an embankment and came to rest on its wheels among small trees. He reported having fallen asleep at the wheel, Trooper Kim Sawyer said.
A LifeFlight helicopter took Soltow to Eastern Maine Medical Center of Bangor because he seemed to be going in and out of consciousness. He also suffered cuts to his face and elbow and complained of elbow pain. He freed himself from the car, Sawyer said.
A passer-by reported the accident by calling 911 about 11:35 a.m.
Topsfield is a Washington County town, population 237 as of the 2010 Census, along Route 6 between Springfield and Codyville Plantation.
