BRUNSWICK, Maine — A Brunswick man was arrested Tuesday morning after allegedly stealing sunglasses, moonshine, snacks and deodorant from a Rite Aid store on Maine Street.

Haven John Willis, 41, was charged with misdemeanor theft and refusing to submit to arrest or detention, Brunswick police Cmdr. Marc Hagan said Wednesday.

Officers were called to Rite Aid shortly after 11 a.m. where employees accused Willis of stealing sunglasses, Old Smokey Tennessee Moonshine, a “Natty Daddy” beer, deodorant, sunflower seeds, a Combos baked snack, Reese’s Pieces and Reese’s Minis, according to Hagan.

Willis allegedly was “intoxicated on drugs and/or alcohol and very belligerent,” Hagan said.

Willis allegedly attempted to skirt police and officers “brought him to the ground” in the Rite Aid lobby before taking him to Cumberland County Jail in Portland.

He is scheduled to appear in West Bath District Court on June 7.
