BANGOR, Maine — A Bradley man faces a robbery charge in connection with an incident at the Wal-Mart on Stillwater Avenue Saturday afternoon, according to police.

Richard Newell, 39, also allegedly threatened loss prevention staff with a knife, according to Bangor police Sgt. Tim Cotton.

Newell allegedly tried to make off with approximately $235.78 worth of merchandise when confronted around 4 p.m. Saturday, the sergeant said.

A Penobscot County Sheriff’s deputy located Newell’s vehicle on Main Street in Bradley and arrested him after pulling him over, Cotton said.

Newell was taken to the Penobscot County Jail.
