CARIBOU, Maine — A woman accused of stealing from the local Rite Aid and running out of the store also has been charged with possession of heroin.

Trishia Willette, 25, of Caribou was arrested Saturday and charged with Class C theft, possession of a schedule W drug (namely heroin), and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a release issued Monday by the Caribou Police Department.

Caribou officer Douglas Bell reported finding Willette shortly after the theft was called in, hiding in an area behind the store and in possession of an item stolen from the Rite Aid. The item was not identified, but the theft was elevated to Class C level, which is punishable by up to five years in prison, because Willette has prior convictions, according to Caribou police.

She also was in possession of items commonly used to package drugs, according to the release.

Unable to make bail set at $2,500 cash or $25,000 surety, Willette remained in Aroostook County Jail on Monday awaiting a June 9 arraignment.
