A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a Maine woman in Florida, according to authorities.
Timothy Frederick Johnson, 28, was arrested Thursday and charged with murder, according to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.
Johnson is charged in connection with the death of Judith Therianos, 52, of Alfred, whose remains were located earlier this month near Highway 19 in Port Richey, Florida.
Pasco County (Florida) Sheriff Chris Nocco said during a Friday news conference that Johnson had sex with victim, fatally bludgeoned her when she asked him to stop, and had sex again with her dead body hours later, according to the Journal Tribune newspaper. The sheriff said the cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma due to homicidal violence.
Nocco said that because of Johnson’s alleged behavior, law enforcement officials are looking at other missing persons cases in the area to see if there is any connection.
Therianos had been in the Sunshine State since mid-February visiting friends.
