BANGOR, Maine — The replacement of a bridge carrying Interstate 395 over Webster Avenue will result in a closure of a section of the highway starting this weekend.
According to the Maine Department of Transportation, the section of the highway between Exits 1 and 2 will shut down at 8 p.m. Friday.
Weather permitting, the stretch will reopen at 7 a.m. Tuesday, May 10.
Signs have already been posted along Interstate 95 warning motorists of the closure.
The bridge carrying traffic over Webster Avenue is 57 years old.
Drivers on I-395 wishing to get to I-95 should take Exit 2 and follow Route 202 for 3.7 miles and connect with I-95 at Coldbrook Road.
I-95 commuters wishing to get to I-395 should exit at Exit 180 and connect to Route 202 via Coldbrook Road.
Motorists traveling on Main Street in Bangor looking to connect to I-95 should follow Route 1A into Hampden and then turn right onto Western Avenue, turn right onto Route 202 and connect with Coldbrook Road.
