TURNER, Maine — A motorist died and another was hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash on Monday on Route 219, according to the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office.
Emergency crews went to Route 219, also known as Howe Corner Road, about 4:30 p.m. after a report of a crash.
The driver of one vehicle died at the scene of the crash and the driver of the other vehicle was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with injuries that were not life-threatening, according to police. The vehicles had no other occupants.
Both vehicles were totaled in the crash.
The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office reported that Maine State Police were called in to reconstruct the crash. A short section of Route 219 between Hammond Road and North River Road was closed while the crash was investigated.
Police are not releasing further information pending notification of family. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
Emergency crews from the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office along with Turner Fire and Rescue went to the scene of the crash.
