PORTLAND, Maine — The Binghamton Mets scored four runs in three different innings and cruised to a 13-2 Eastern League baseball win over the Portland Sea Dogs in the series opener on Tuesday night at Hadlock Field.

The top six hitters in the Binghamton lineup combined to go 16-for-30 with four doubles, two home runs, 10 RBIs and 12 runs. Niuman Romero finished 3-for-6 with a double, home run, five RBIs, and three runs scored, while Dominic Smith went 3-for-6 with a home run, four RBIs, and two runs scored.

Andrew Barbosa (W, 1-0) picked up the win, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits, walking three and striking out four.

Portland’s Teddy Stankiewicz’s (L, 0-1) streak of four quality starts came to an end as he allowed eight earned runs on nine hits in 3 ⅔ innings, walking two and striking out one.

Logan Taylor, Luis Mateo, and David Roseboom combined to pitch the final four innings of the game for Binghamton and didn’t allow a run on three combined hits, walking one and striking out six.

The win is Binghamton’s eighth straight over the Sea Dogs dating back to last year and 13th straight at Hadlock Field dating back to 2014.
