ROCKLAND, Maine — More than $2,000 in cash donated to the local food pantry raised from a “wake” for a local business was stolen last month.
The money was reported stolen April 13 from Area Interfaith Outreach Food Pantry on Thomaston Street, Rockland police Sgt. Donald Finnegan confirmed Wednesday.
The detectives in the department are investigating the theft, he said.
The $2,015 was donated to the food pantry on April 11, following a fundraiser held in late March. The fundraiser was called a wake for the Thorndike Creamery, which closed in December after operating for eight years in the Thorndike building on Main Street. The former Thorndike Creamery workers made pizzas at Rock City Cafe on March 24 as part of the effort to raise money for a worthy organization.
