BANGOR, Maine — An Athens man pleaded guilty on Friday to a charge of possessing child pornography, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
Steven Strang, 37, faces up to 20 years in prison, a fine of $250,000 and between five years and lifetime of supervised release.
Strang pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Bangor.
Between June and August 2015, Strang possessed dozens of video files depicting child pornography, court documents indicated. Many of these videos depicted children under the age of 12.
The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and the State Police Computer Crimes Unit.
Strang will be sentenced at a later date.
