PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Maine attorney general’s office is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Main Street, Presque Isle police Deputy Chief Laurie Kelly said Saturday.

The incident involving Presque Isle police occurred at about 6:30 p.m. and as of 10:30 p.m. Saturday did not appear to have resulted in a fatality, Kelly said.

The attorney general’s office would likely have a statement coming out in the next several hours, Kelly said. She declined further comment. Attempts to contact the attorney general’s office were not immediately successful late Saturday.

Under state law, the attorney general’s office is charged with investigating shootings involving local, county and state police.
