APPLETON, Maine — A state police trooper and an Appleton woman were injured Tuesday afternoon in a two-car crash.

Cpl. Jeremy Wesbrock was traveling to the scene of a motor vehicle crash in Searsmont and was operating his cruiser with emergency lights and siren about 3:30 p.m. on Sennebec Road. Wesbrock attempted to pass a car operated by 52-year-old Lisa Ford of Appleton just as Ford was making a left turn into her driveway, according to Maine Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.

The cruiser sideswiped Ford’s car and both vehicles ended up off the road.

Wesbrock and Ford were taken to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport with minor injuries. Both were alone in their vehicles.

Appleton Fire Department personnel and Union emergency medical services assisted at the scene. The crash in Searsmont was handled by other troopers.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office investigated the crash.
