CALAIS, Maine — Police are searching for a local teen who disappeared from the area Wednesday.
Emily Mitchell, 15, of Calais, was last seen on the afternoon of May 11, according to a news release issued Thursday afternoon by the Calais police.
Mitchell is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds. She has brown hair and blue eyes.
No further information about the circumstances were provided in the release and calls to the police department were not immediately returned.
In the release, Calais police ask that anyone with any information contact the department at 454-2751, even if the individual thinks the information may be insignificant.
A communitywide volunteer search is currently underway, according to police.
Assisting the Calais police are members of the U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Customs, the Maine Warden Service, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Maine State Police.
