YORK, Maine — A Manchester, New Hampshire, man was arrested on aggravated assault charges Thursday after he allegedly struck another man in the head with a brick at Libby’s Campground and then fled.
Michael Johnson, 52, was taken to York County Jail after police found him driving on Long Beach Avenue following the assault.
Shortly before 1 p.m., police responded to an incident reported at campground. Investigating officers said they learned that a verbal dispute led to a physical altercation involving Johnson and a 67-year-old male. According to police, the victim was struck in the head with a brick and then kicked and punched while on the ground. Johnson then fled the scene in a vehicle, police said.
The victim was taken to York Hospital with serious injuries. Police had no further information about the condition of the victim as of Thursday night.
