WILTON, Maine — An overnight fire leveled a home in Wilton early Saturday morning, and it is being investigated as suspicious.
Before 3 a.m. Saturday, firefighters responded to 1090 Route 2 West in Wilton, finding a two-story home engulfed in flames. The fire destroyed the home, which was unoccupied for the past two years.
The state fire marshal’s office is investigating, but no cause has been determined. Firefighters from Wilton, Jay and East Dixfield responded, with the final crews staying on scene for several hours.
