WESTBROOK, Maine — Local police charged a man with assault in connection to a stabbing that left one man hospitalized Saturday night.

Jeffrey Young, 49, was charged with aggravated assault after allegedly stabbing another man in the arm, according to police.

A Westbrook police officer on Saturday night came across three men standing in the road near the intersection of Stroudwater and Main streets. The officer found one of the three men bleeding from one of his arms and another, Young, holding a knife, according to police.

Young fled the scene but was later found and taken into custody, police said.

Young is being held at Cumberland County Jail.

The victim was hospitalized with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
