BANGOR, Maine — City police have identified a woman accused of stealing an elderly woman’s wallet last weekend.

Bangor police Sgt. Tim Cotton said a woman was spotted leaving Wal-Mart with the victim’s wallet.

Tips began flooding into police roughly an hour after Cotton wrote a post about the incident on the department’s Facebook page, which has since been taken down.

No charges have been filed, and Cotton is urging the public to keep their purses or wallets close and secure and not leave them inside shopping carts.
