BANGOR, Maine — A Holden woman waived indictment and pleaded guilty Tuesday in U.S. District Court to one count of conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute and distribute heroin, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
By pleading guilty, Sara Monroe, 29, admitted that between February and September 2015, Monroe conspired with Mario Lee, 34, of Bangor and others to distribute heroin in the Bangor area, a press release issued Tuesday said.
The heroin was packaged in bundles of 10 small baggies containing heroin and bundled together with a rubber band, according to court documents. The bundles were supplied by Lee and distributed by Monroe. She also provided transportation for Lee so that he could distribute heroin to others.
A sentencing date for Monroe has not been set.
She is being held without bail.
Lee, who is being held without bail, has been charged with four counts of distribution of heroin. A trial date has not been set.
Monroe faces up to 20 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $1 million. Lee faces the same punishment, if convicted.
