BETHEL, Maine — The state’s Mineral and Gem Museum is offering a $20,000 reward for the first one-kilogram meteorite from a fireball that lit up the sky early Tuesday. According to a statement from the museum, it appears the meteoroid entered the Earth’s atmosphere over Maine and the terminal explosion occurred about 30 kilometers west of Rangeley. According to a report from CBS 13, the fireball shot across Maine skies around 1 a.m. Tuesday. Local police departments, including Portland police, caught the incident on their dash cams.
