PORTLAND, Maine — Maine home sales rose about 25 percent in April, compared with last year, as prices remained relatively even with one year ago.
The Maine Realtors Association said sellers have regularly received multiple offers on homes in various parts of the state, meaning a tougher time for buyers.

The sales volume increase in Maine came as home sales in the Northeast rose 17.5 percent from one year ago and the national sales were up about 6.2 percent, according to the National Association of Realtors.
Across the region and nationally, prices rose at a faster clip in April, with the median sales price up 6.3 percent nationally, to $232,500, and up 4.1 percent in the Northeast, to $263,000.
The median sales price in Maine jumped up a little more than 1 percent in April, to $180,000.
