BANGOR — Greater Bangor Area 2016 Memorial Day Parade, organized by Bangor High School Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, 10:15 a.m. Monday, May 30, beginning on Exchange Street, proceeding north, turning left on Hammond Street, through the traffic circle and west onto Main Street, for a route of approximately three-quarters of a mile. Brief ceremony immediately after parade at Davenport Park. Veterans marching at front of parade coordinated through Cole Land Transportation Museum. After parade, commemorative service with wreath-laying, Bangor High School band, band boosters selling hot dogs, hamburgers, soda and whoopie pies, at Cole Museum. Volunteers set up at 9 a.m. at The First Bank, 145 Exchange St., to put stickers on veterans’ walking sticks.

DEXTER — Dexter Memorial Day parade, 10 a.m. Monday, May 30, hosted by the Poulliot-Seavey American Legion Post and the Shirley B. Carter VFW Post. Units assemble in the municipal parking lot behind Bangor Savings Bank and parade proceeds up Main Street, Church Street and Dam Street at Veterans Memorial Park for services. Color Guard from Tri-County Tech Center Criminal Justice program, the Dexter Regional High School band and local Boy and Girl Scouts. Parade then reassembles on Dam and Grove streets and marches back to the starting point. The VFW will serve a lunch at the post on Cedar Street.
DOVER-FOXCROFT — American Legion Post 29’s 2016 Memorial Day parade, 10 a.m. Monday, May 30. Parade line-up, 9:30 a.m., on Summer Street in front of Dave’s World, proceeds to the parking lot behind the Civil War monument for a ceremony, then to bridge for ceremony and up East Main Street to the courthouse parking lot for the conclusion of the procession. Veterans invited to participate with riding accommodations available if needed. Businesses and merchants asked to display American flags, buntings and other patriotic items.

GREENVILLE — The Cecil R. Cole American Legion Post and Auxiliary to host Memorial Day weekend services, starting with an observance, 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 28, at the B-52 crash site on Elephant Mountain. Memorial Day services, 9 a.m. Monday, May 30, at Rockwood, with parade units convening at 10:10 a.m. at Richard Francis Lavigne Memorial Bridge at the East Outlet, proceeding to Shirley cemetery for services at 11 a.m., and then back to Greenville for traditional parade starting at noon. Parade route is from Legion hall on Pritham Avenue to the steamship Katahdin for service to honor those lost at sea, then resume and march to the town cemetery for tribute to fallen service members.
GUILFORD — Guilford Memorial Day parade, organized by American Legion Posts Conner-Trafton No. 119 of Guilford and Stott-Flanders No. 165 of Sangerville, 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 30, starting at the Elmwood Cemetery, proceeding to a ceremony rededicating the Veterans’ Bridge, before ending at the veterans’ memorial.

TOGUS — Memorial Day observance, Monday, May 30, Togus VA National Cemeteries. Participants will meet at 7:45 a.m. in the Building 205 parking lot before departing for the East Cemetery, then the West Cemetery. Wreath laying at cemetery memorials, presentation of the colors, volleys of rifle fire and taps by Maine National Guard Honor Guard. There are 5,373 veterans buried at the Togus National Cemetery, with the first burial in 1867 and the last in 1961.
