SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — A Portland man is in critical condition after his vehicle was struck head-on Monday night on Interstate 295 in South Portland, according to Maine State Police.

Troopers said a 2002 Toyota 4Runner driven by Paul Regan, 37, of Dayton was traveling south when Regan lost control and crossed into the median.

The vehicle went airborne after striking the guardrail, then collided head-on with a 2014 Jeep Cherokee on the northbound side.

The Jeep was operated by Nicholas Dubose, 26, of Portland. Dubose had one passenger, Thomas Netting, 25.

Dubose suffered a serious head injury and is in critical condition at Maine Medical Center.

Regan and Netting had minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
