Danny Amendola has been a key performer in the New England Patriots lineup since joining the organization in 2013.
Next month, NFL fans from around eastern Maine will have the opportunity to meet the veteran wide receiver.
Sports Radio 92.9 The Ticket announced Tuesday that Amendola will be the featured attraction at its Championship Kickoff Drive Party on June 29 at Husson University in Bangor.
Amendola will appear at a 7 p.m. gathering at the Gracie Theater, where he will discuss his NFL career, including his 2014 Super Bowl season with New England and the Patriots’ prospects for the 2016-2017 campaign.
“This will be the first time we’ve brought somebody up from the Patriots,” said Dale Duff, the co-host of The Ticket’s “Morning Pitch” show.
“By all accounts he’s a pretty good guy, somebody who’s good dealing with people. Doesn’t everybody want to know, what’s Tom Brady really like?” Duff added.
He pointed out that their station, 92.9 FM (WEZQ), broadcasts New England Patriots games, along with pregame and postgame shows, during the season.
Fans who purchase a VIP ticket will be able to hang out with Amendola during an outdoor barbecue, where they will have access to autographs and photos. That ticket, which costs $100, includes a reserved seat for the show, a swag bag, food and Sea Dog beer.
General admission tickets are $35 and include a ticket to the event, plus a swag bag.
The gates open at 5:30 p.m. for VIP attendees and at 6 p.m. for general admission.
“This company (Townsquare Media) is very much into live events and they want to do the live sports events, too,” Duff said of the evening with Amendola.
In January, The Ticket sponsored a hot stove session with first baseman Travis Shaw and catcher Blake Swihart of the Boston Red Sox, which also was held at Husson.
Amendola has spent seven seasons in the NFL, the last three with New England. Last season, the 5-foot-11, 190-pounder from The Woodlands, Texas, made 65 receptions for 648 yards and three touchdowns.
In New England’s 28-24 victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX in 2014, Amendola made five catches for 48 yards, including a 4-yard touchdown reception from Tom Brady in the fourth quarter.
He was acquired to help replace former Patriots wideout Wes Welker after his departure for Denver. In three seasons with New England, Amendola has 146 catches for 1,481 yards and six TDs.
Earlier this month, Amendola agreed to a new, two-year contract with the Patriots. It will pay him $1.35 million this year, all guaranteed, including a $100,000 signing bonus and $15,625 per game in incentives.
Next year, he will receive a $6 million salary, $31,250 per game in incentives and a $500,000 roster bonus.
Amendola spent his first four NFL seasons with the St. Louis Rams after a four-year career at Texas Tech, where he amassed 204 receptions for 2,246 yards and 15 touchdowns and more than 1,000 punt return yards.
Amendola went undrafted and instead signed a free-agent contract with the Dallas Cowboys and spent time on the practice squads of the Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles before signing with the Rams in 2009.
