CARIBOU, Maine — Northern Maine could see strong thunderstorms and hail late Wednesday afternoon into the evening, according to a special weather statement issued by the National Weather Service.
There is potential for storms to produce quarter-size hail and wind gusts up to 60 mph, along with heavy downpours, said Maureen Hastings, meteorologist at the weather service’s Caribou office.
“We are expecting a cold front, and the environmental conditions are why we could see the potential for storms like this,” she said.
