ROCKLAND, Maine — A new patrol officer has joined the Rockland Police Department.
Addison Cox is a Maine native who enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, served in Romania and Afghanistan, and was honorably discharged following his four-year enlistment with awards including the USMC’s Good Conduct Medal and Combat Action Ribbon.
In his off-time, Addison spends time with his wife and their daughter, and he enjoys hunting and fishing.
Cox said he has wanted to be a police officer since he can remember, pointing out that his father also was an officer with the Augusta Police Department, according to a news release from the department.
Cox had been a candidate for three departments but selected Rockland after going on a ride along with Officer Andrew Redden of Rockland.
The new officer said going through pepper spray training was memorable.
“It’s going to take a long time, if ever, for me to forget what that stuff feels like,” he said.
