GORHAM, Maine — The Red Cross is helping a Gorham family displaced after a fire Friday morning.
The fire chief said there were six or seven people in the house when the fire started. He said all of them got out, but one firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The chief said they were called to Plummer Road just after 8 a.m. When they arrived, flames were pouring out of the garage.
All of the residents were displaced, but the fire chief said the house may not be a total loss.
There was heavy damage to the roof and water damage inside, but it didn’t spread all the way to the other end of the home, the chief said.
The chief said the garage was just feet away from the house, which is why it spread so quickly. The Maine state fire marshal’s office is investigating.
