MONMOUTH, Maine — Firefighters worked to save a single-family home on Tilson Road from a fire that broke out during the early hours of Memorial Day.
Two people who lived in the house were not home at the time of the fire, according to Monmouth fire Chief Dan Roy.
The fire chief said the home collapsed into itself and was a total loss.
Roy said that it is unlikely that investigators will find the cause of the blaze due to the extent of the damage.
Crews from several departments assisted Monmouth firefighters in the battle against the flames.
