Thunder-Warriors tickets go for $58,000
Two courtside seats fetched $29,000 each for Monday night’s Western Conference championship game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Golden State Warriors.
According to ESPN.com, the two floor seats for Game 7 were sold on the Warriors’ resale site run by Ticketmaster for a total of $58,000.
ESPN reported that the game has the second-highest list prices for an NBA Game 7 in the past five years at $960 per ticket. The only Game 7 to top Monday night’s matchup in Oakland at Oracle Arena was the 2013 NBA Finals Game 7 between the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs at $1,346 per ticket.
Manziel missing, last seen Friday
Johnny Manziel is missing in New York.
The New York Post in a short blurb posted at the Page Six microsite, said Manziel was supposed to take a helicopter to the Hamptons on Saturday, where he would be hosting a small party for friends and family. He reportedly didn’t show for the flight.
He has not been seen since Friday night.
Late Monday afternoon, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer tweeted that sources close to Manziel told her they’d been in contact with Manziel earlier in the afternoon.
His whereabouts were unknown.
On Friday night, he reportedly had a run-in with the owner of a Mercedes that was involved in a crash last month. Manziel was a passenger and promised to pay to have the damages repaired.
Manziel reneged on his promise, prompting the confrontation.
Yanks place Ackley on DL
The New York Yankees placed infielder/outfielder Dustin Ackley on the 15-day disabled list with a right shoulder dislocation.
The 28-year-old utility player was injured in Sunday’s 2-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. Ackley hurt the shoulder sliding back to first on a pick-off try in the sixth inning.
Manager Joe Girardi said after Sunday’s game that Ackley’s shoulder “popped out.” Ackley stayed in Tampa for an MRI.
Ackley, 28, is batting .148 with four RBIs in 28 games this season.
The Yankees recalled infielder Rob Refsnyder from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to take Ackley’s roster spot. Refsnyder was hitting .368 with two home runs and three RBIs in his last 10 games.
Marlins’ Dietrich suffers dugout mishap
Miami second baseman Derek Dietrich sat out Monday’s game after getting hit in the back of the head by a foul ball while in the dugout on Sunday.
Marlins left fielder Christian Yelich was batting in the ninth inning against Braves reliever Ian Krol. Yelich fouled off Krol’s 1-2 offering, and the ball flew into the Marlins’ dugout.
The ball ricocheted against a wall in the dugout and struck Dietrich who laid motionless for a couple of minutes.
