A Presque Isle man driving through Castle Hill crashed a flatbed truck loaded with telephone poles Wednesday afternoon.
Terrance Gregg, 71, was driving a 2004 Mitsubishi flatbed farm truck east toward Ashland on Route 163 when the trailer started to fishtail as he was traveling down a steep grade in the road near Haystack mountain, according to the Maine State Police.
The driver lost control of the rig, and it “skidded sideways off the north side of the roadway, where the truck and the trailer flipped over and came to rest in the ditch,” state trooper Adam Stoutamyer said in a report on the crash.
The truck’s load of telephone poles spilled into the ditch, Stoutamyer said. Information on the condition of Gregg was not immediately released.
