NORWICH, Conn. — The Hartford Yard Goats scored all five runs in the first three innings, holding on for a 5-1 win over the Portland Sea Dogs on Friday night in Eastern League baseball action at Dodd Stadium.
Portland had nine hits, going 2-for-13 with runners in scoring position, and falling to Antonio Senzatela (3-1) for the second straight outing. Henry Ramos knocked in Portland’s lone run with an RBI single in the fifth.
Keith Couch (3-1) suffered his first loss of the season, giving up all five runs over seven innings pitched. In the first, Hartford scored three times off Couch. David Dahl drove in the first run with a single, Dillon Thomas delivered an RBI double and Rosell Herrera added a run-scoring single.
In the third, Thomas doubled home his second run and Herrera provided a run-scoring fielder’s choice.
Portland had hits to lead off the first three innings, but managed only one run on seven hits off Senzatela over six innings.
Portland’s Ryan Court had two hits and extended his hitting streak to a team-high nine straight games.
