BANGOR, Maine — Stormy weather late Tuesday afternoon and early evening resulted in wind damage in parts of southern Maine, according to a preliminary local storm report issued by the National Weather Service’s office in Gray.
Heavy winds, half-inch to three-quarters-inch hail, and thunderstorm action brought a tree down across a road in Livermore Falls and trees down on Berry Road in Dixfield, according to the report.
There also were trees down in Wayne, large branches down in Chesterville, and trees down on power lines in Buxton, according to the report.
Wind damage also was reported in Waterboro, the weather service said.
Dime-size hail fell in Dixfield and Fayette, while three-quarters-inch hail was reported in Wayne and 1-inch hail pelted Campground Road in Readfield.
As of about 8:30 p.m., Central Maine Power was working to restore service to 780 customers in Androscoggin, York and Penobscot counties.
