ALFRED, Maine — A Sanford man was arrested earlier this week in connection with a May car theft in Alfred, state police said.

Brandon Ingalls, 20, is facing charges of burglary of a motor vehicle, unauthorized use of property and theft, a statement from state police said. He was arrested June 5.

State police Trooper Adam Schmidt had received a report of a stolen vehicle May 10 after Ingalls allegedly stole a 2003 Infiniti on Sanford Road in Alfred, the statement said. Ingalls also allegedly used a credit card in the vehicle to make purchases at local businesses totaling $452.

Surveillance images was obtained showing Ingalls purchasing items such as cigarettes.

Sanford police recovered the stolen vehicle May 14, and a warrant was obtained for Ingalls’ arrest.

Schmidt was able to locate Ingalls in Sanford last Sunday and took him into custody. In addition to the aforementioned charges, Ingalls is also expected to be charged with 12 counts of misuse of identification, operating after suspension and violating his bail conditions.
