MARS HILL, Maine — A 19-year-old Mars Hill man escaped serious injury early Sunday morning after he fell asleep at the wheel of his 2006 Monte Carlo, Maine State Police Sgt. Chad Fuller said in a news release.
Alan Rideout was driving south on Route 1A about 12:10 a.m. when he fell asleep and this car veered off the road to the right, Fuller said. The vehicle continued off the road and struck a mailbox, a road sign and a tree before coming to a stop.
Rideout was wearing his seat belt when the crash happened, Fuller said.
