GREENVILLE, Maine — A local woman who had been missing since Monday morning was in good condition when she was found in the woods Tuesday afternoon, officials said.
Clarice Jardine, 76, was found by Maine Association of Search and Rescue Team member Chad Carleton and his dog, Jenga, according to Maine Warden Service Cpl. John MacDonald.
The two-day search effort for Jardine included 80 searchers and involved Maine game wardens, dog units, warden service and Army National Guard aircraft and Greenville police and fire personnel, according to MacDonald.
Jardine was found in a heavily wooded area on a muddy road roughly 2 miles from where she was last seen.
Jardine had last been seen shortly before 5 a.m. Monday upon leaving her residence to go for a walk with her dog. Family members contacted Greenville police when Jardine, who has not driven a vehicle in years and has memory issues, did not return.
Search crews carried Jardine from the woods after being evaluated by medical personnel, and she was found to be in good condition, MacDonald said.
