BOWIE, Maryland — The Bowie Baysox pounded out 13 hits and grabbed the rubber game of the series from the Portland Sea Dogs with a 6-1 Eastern League victory Thursday night at Prince George’s Stadium.
Portland dropped two of three in the series and has lost five of six to Bowie on the season.
Former Red Sox farmhand Jason Garcia (3-6) tossed six scoreless frames on for Bowie, giving up five hits and three walks with six strikeouts.
Bowie (29-37) got off to a quick start, scoring three times in the second off losing pitcher Keith Couch (4-2). Joey Terdoslavich clubbed a three-run homer to right field, just the second home run allowed by Couch.
In the fourth, Bowie added two runs on a single by Chance Sisco and a run-scoring fielder’s choice by Garabez Rosa.
Couch worked five innings and surrendered nine hits and five runs with three walks and two strikeouts. The Baysox added a run off Ty Buttrey in the seventh.
Portland’s lone run came off reliever Bobby Bundy in the eighth. Cody Decker doubled and scored on a single by Cole Sturgeon.
The Sea Dogs (22-43) are 0-11-2 in road series dating back to 2015, and have dropped 24 of 31 on the road this season.
