BRIDGTON, Maine — Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for a black bear that was spotted in a residential area Thursday.
According to a post on the Bridgton Police Department’s Facebook page, police responded to a report of a suspicious male lurking near trash cans and bird feeders.
“He is described as approximately 4 feet tall, dark complexion and appears to be very fuzzy,” the post read.
The bear fled the scene and has not been captured, according to the post.
“Investigators are also looking into any connections between this incident and recent thefts where only honey and marmalade have been targeted,” the post read.
The public is advised to contact Bridgton police at 647-8814 if the bear is spotted.
