FAIRFIELD, Maine — A Gouldsboro man returning home from a wedding was injured Monday night in a crash on Interstate 95 in Fairfield, state police said.
Norman Buckley, 24, had to be extricated from the vehicle, a statement from state police read.
Buckley’s Mercury Sable left the road at mile 136 and was rolling when it struck a small stand of trees.
The northbound lane was shut down for 45 minutes as Buckley was airlifted to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, the statement said.
Buckley apparently fell asleep at the wheel, according to the statement. Police believe speed and alcohol were not factors.
