GREENVILLE, Maine — A team of Maine State Police detectives have converged in Greenville to investigate what led to the death of a local man Saturday.

State police went to cabins off Burnt Jacket Road, near Beaver Cove, after an “incident” was reported around 7:30 p.m. Saturday night, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.

George Woodbury III, 32, was found dead at the scene, McCausland said.

State police detectives have been at the scene since Saturday night and McCausland said they would remain there Sunday morning collecting evidence and conducting interviews.

The state medical examiner’s office is scheduled to conduct an autopsy in Augusta Monday.
