PORTLAND, Maine — German Marquez kept the Portland Sea Dogs offense quiet and the Hartford Yard Goats claimed an 8-1 Eastern League baseball victory Sunday night in the series finale in front of a sellout crowd of 7,368 at Hadlock Field.

Portland’s Yoan Moncada led off the bottom of the first with a solo homer off Marquez, but the Sea Dogs couldn’t muster any offense after that. Marquez (W, 7-5) allowed just the one run on four hits in six innings while walking two and striking out five.

The Hartford offense recorded a season-high 17 hits, including eight doubles. Hartford put up five runs in the third inning on a single and five doubles to jump to a 5-1 lead and never looked back.

Sea Dogs starter Jalen Beeks (L, 0-1) allowed six runs on eight hits in 3 ⅓ innings, walking two and striking out three.

Raimel Tapia and Rosell Herrera each had four hits for Hartford, while Correlle Prime added three.

On Saturday, Keith Couch threw Portland’s first nine-inning complete game in nearly three years and the Sea Dogs beat the Yard Goats 7-1.

Couch (W, 5-4) allowed one run on five hits while walking none and striking out a season-high seven. Couch was also the last Sea Dog pitcher to throw a nine-inning complete game on Aug. 31, 2013 at Harrisburg.

Portland cranked out 12 hits, including seven extra-base hits, tying a season-high. Cole Sturgeon had a career-high tying four hits, while Andrew Benintendi added a home run, triple and two RBIs.
