CARMEL, Maine — A Bangor man wanted on three warrants was arrested Tuesday after allegedly leading a Maine State Police sergeant on a pursuit from Hampden to Carmel.
In addition to the warrants, Kevin P. Bigelow, 57, was arrested on charges of eluding a police officer and operating after habitual offender revocation, Sgt. Scott Hamilton said Tuesday.
Bigelow was not charged with operating under the influence.
The pursuit began about 3:15 p.m. when police received a complaint about a man who was staggering and appeared to be intoxicated at the northbound rest area on Interstate 95 in Hampden, Hamilton said.
A Penobscot County deputy tried to stop Bigelow in the Bangor area, but Bigelow crossed over the median and drove onto the southbound side of the highway, Hamilton said.
“So at this point, nobody’s behind him,” he said.
But a description of Bigelow and the motorcycle he was operating was given out, and Hamilton said he spotted him in a crossover around mile marker 170.
“He went by me. I attempted to stop him, but he wouldn’t stop. He eventually ran out of gas on the Cook Road,” Hamilton said.
Bigelow was taken to Penobscot County Jail, where he was being held Tuesday night on $16,084 bail, a jail official said.
