RUMFORD, Maine — Crews were on the scene Wednesday of a fire at a condo complex in Rumford.

Firefighters said the fire at the Madison condos on Route 2 started around 5 a.m.

The building used to be a motel but is now a condo complex.

Chief Robert Chase of Rumford said eight departments are on scene. He says the fire displaced 15 people.

The Red Cross is assisting those displaced by the fire.

The Red Cross Disaster Action Response Teams will be meeting with individuals and families affected by the apartment complex fire to ensure everyone has a safe place to sleep, food and other essentials.
