HERMON, Maine — Dana Wilbur of Frankfort added his name to the short list of 2016 feature winners in the Dysart’s Late Models at Speedway 95 Saturday night when he took the lead from Skowhegan’s Kris Matchett following a hotly contested side-by-side battle for the lead.

Wayne Parritt Sr. of Steuben was running a close third behind Wilbur and Matchett until he spun out of the position on lap 23 while challenging the leaders for the top spot.

On the restart, Wilbur took the outside lane and was able to race past Matchett on lap 25 and continue the final 15 laps in front to claim the checkers.

Matchett finished second and Parritt Sr. made it back through the pack to finish third. Todd Lawrence of Levant finished fourth, and John Curtis Jr. of Hermon recovered from an early race spin to finish fifth.

Matchett and Wilbur each won a 10-lap qualifier, which set them on the front row for the 40-lap feature.

The Coca-Cola Beverage Company 50-lap series race for the Casella Waste System Sport-Fours was postponed due to rain and will be run as the first event next Saturday at 7 p.m.

Racing resumes at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Speedway 95 and will include makeup events for the Modified Enduro and Stars of Tomorrow classes.
