BLUE HILL, Maine — Kids and adults followed Maine Master Naturalist Merrie Eley, a Blue Hill Heritage Trust volunteer, along the trails as she pointed out plants to smell and taste along the way.

The Blue Hill Heritage Trust event called Secrets and Surprises of the Forest was held at Kingdom Woods Friday. Visitors tasted Indian cucumber, wintergreen leaves and blueberries on the hike.

The Blue Hill Heritage Trust is the local land trust on the peninsula of more than 7,200 acres of conserved land. The Blue Hill Heritage Trust outreach committee plans free, year-round, public events, such as hikes, environmental education, nature walks, and much more. All events and dates can be found on their website, bluehillheritagetrust.org.
