SMYRNA, Maine — A tractor-trailer driver who was trying to make a turn from Duck Pond Road onto Route 2 late Wednesday morning inadvertently snagged nearby power lines, pulling them to the ground and breaking two utility poles, according to Maine State Police.

The 2000 Freightliner was being operated by Terry Ouellette, 39, of Fort Kent, according to Trooper Gavin Endre, who went to the scene, along with Troopers Adam Bell and Darryl Pelletier.

Power was shut down within the immediate area of the crash. Route 2 was closed for about an hour, Endre said. He said that the Maine Department of Transportation, Emera Maine repair workers and Oakfield firefighters assisted at the scene.
