CAPE ELIZABETH, Maine — A Lincolnville woman has been charged with arson in connection with a vehicle fire Saturday, according to officials.
Melanie Vangel is facing two arson charges and a solo count of unauthorized use of property, according to a statement from the fire marshal’s office.
Investigators believe Vangel stole a van from Rockport and drove it to New Hampshire before returning north to Cape Elizabeth and setting it on fire on Saturday, the statement said.
The van was destroyed, and a nearby garage sustained several thousand dollars in damage.
Investigators believe the van was stolen either late Friday night or early Saturday morning.
Cape Elizabeth and Rockland police aided in the investigation.
