FALMOUTH, Maine — A Connecticut man was arrested Monday and charged with a January 2015 robbery and kidnapping in Falmouth that police say was drug-related.

Sherman Stigler, 31, of Willimantic, Connecticut, was arrested Monday in Willimantic on a warrant, according to a news release from Falmouth Police Lt. John Kilbride.

A Cumberland County grand jury indicted Stigler earlier this month on Class A felony charges of robbery with physical force and kidnapping, Class B burglary, Class C aggravated criminal trespass and misdemeanor assault charges.

Stigler and another unnamed male defendant allegedly forcibly entered a home on Fox Run Road in Falmouth at 5:14 p.m. on Jan. 12, 2015, assaulted the male resident, took control of the man by force and made him withdraw money from a local bank. The suspects and the alleged victim knew each other, according to Kilbride.

Kilbride declined to comment further on the incident.

Stigler was scheduled to appear in Danielson Superior Court on Tuesday, Kilbride wrote. He also faces an extradition hearing for what Kilbride said are fully extraditable charges.
