ORRINGTON, Maine — Six all-star teams will vie for the Little League baseball state championship in the ages 11-12 division when the weeklong tournament begins Saturday at the Orrington Little League field.

District 2 champ Medomak Valley will take on District 4 champ Biddeford in the first game at 1 p.m., followed by a clash between District 5 winner Lewiston and District 6 champ Scarborough at 4 p.m.

An opening ceremony for the tourney is set for 10 a.m.

Games continue in the double-elimination event on Sunday when District 3 champ Houlton will play the winner of Saturday’s first game at 1 p.m. and then District 1 winner Ellsworth will take on the winner of Saturday’s second game at 4 p.m.

On Monday and Tuesday, games will be played at 3 and 6 p.m., followed by a rest day on Wednesday.

The tourney resumes with an elimination-round game at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, with the winner advancing to face an unbeaten team at 5:30 p.m. Friday in the championship round. An if-necessary game follows at noon Saturday.

The state champ advances to the East Regional Tournament Aug. 7-13 in Bristol, Connecticut.
